Figuring it out together... Posted on 30 Jul 08:38 , 11 comments
This is my first post! I just launched my store last night and I was a nervous wreck! I know my pictures need improving and I need to finish adding my products but I just couldn’t wait! I wasn’t going to do the blog portion of this but my husband said I have a lot to say, so I thought why not!
I always have a lot of ideas and I’m always doing something, so that is what my blog is going to be about.
Here’s my introduction: My son calls me a suburban farmer. I am a wife and mother and young grandmother. I live about 30 minutes north of Los Angeles. I live in a yellow house, on a cul-de-sac in a regular housing tract. Not big or fancy. I grow a garden, have 7 chickens, can my own food and try to make everything I eat and use in my daily life, from scratch. I have a vintage kitchen, I love music, I decorate for holidays and I like to sit on my porch swing every night and look at the sky...
I work in the entertainment industry and what I saw was that a lot of the younger people, heck people in general, don’t know how to cook, don’t know where our food even comes from. They just go to the store and buy things pre-made. They don’t know how to make anything from scratch. And they think cooking, canning etc. are too hard! It’s not! So I started inviting them over for a day with me. I teach them how to make jelly, or chicken noodle soup with homemade noodles, you know easy stuff. Now they all want to come all the time!
I feel like "making your house a home" is becoming a lost art. So, what I hope to do with this blog is share my life experiences, new ideas, recipes, hopefully inspire you to try something new. We'll figure it out together. My motto is: “If someone else can do it, why can’t I?”
Thanks for reading my first blog.
p.s. this was fun! And to think was scared...
